Autumn

Summer's finally over. I, for one, I have had enough of it and I'm in the mood for some nice, cool autumn weather.

Forest in autumn invites you to take walks and breathe in the autumn breeze, feel the falling leaves on your shoulders and the crisp crackle of leaves under your feet, as the red and yellow, orange and brown colours of autumn warm your heart.

Another reason I like autumn is because it is always a more productive time for me. Autumn with its falling leaves, serves to remind me that time is passing by, that another year is coming to an end. This spurs me to do something constructive with this time.

Let's finish with an autumn quotation and some autumn poems.

" A fallen leaf is nothing more
than a summer's wave good bye"

Gathering Leaves

by Robert Frost

Spades take up leaves
No better than spoons,
And bags full of leaves
Are light as balloons.
I make a great noise
Of rustling all day
Like rabbit and deer
Running away.
But the mountains I raise
Elude my embrace,
Flowing over my arms
And into my face.
I may load and unload
Again and again
Till I fill the whole shed,
And what have I then?
Next to nothing for weight,
And since they grew duller
From contact with earth
Next to nothing for color.
Next to nothing for use.
But a crop is a crop,
And who's to say where
The harvest shall stop?

Sby James S. Tippett
I like the woods
In autumn
When dry leaves hide the ground,
When the trees are bare
And the wind sweeps by
With a lonesome rushing sound.
I can rustle the leaves
In autumn
And I can make a bed

FALL
by Aileen Fisher
The last of October
We lock the garden gate.
"The flowers alive all withered
That used to stand straight.
The last of October
We put the swings away
And the porch looks deserted
Where we like to play.
The last of October
The birds have all flown,
The screens are in the attic,
The sand pile's all gone;
Everything is put away
Before it starts to snow---
I wonder if the ladybugs
Have any place to go.
In the thick dry leaves
That have fallen
From the bare trees
Overhead.

Great post. I liked it.

You are right whe you say that forest in autumn invites you to take walks. I enjoy a lot of my beach forests, and enjoy too of the breathe in the autumn breeze.
The colour of the leaves are the most beautiful colours in the world.

I liked the poems too.
